Radha Govinda Baruah College was founded to honor the great Xingha Purusa Radha Govinda Baruah who is known as “The Architect of Modern Assam”. Also he contributed a lot to newspaper industry, sports organization, and cultural activities. The college was founded in 1978 with an aim to educate the backward class students of Kalapahar area.
The college offers various courses in the field of both Arts and Commerce. The college is affiliated to Gauhati University for Degree classes and Assam State Higher Secondary Council for Higher Secondary courses. The college is well placed at southern part of Guwahati city at Fatasil-Ambari on the A.K. Deb Road, which connects Bharalumukh with the National Highway 37 bypass at Garchuk, also the college is just 4 km. from the Guwahati Railway Station. The college was provincialised by the Govt. of Assam in 2006.
