About College

Hotel & Catering Management Institute (HCMI), Chandigarh was established in 2003 by VidyaJyoti Educational Society to provide Hospitality education toincrease the bar of Hospitality Education with international perception.

There are trainings for professional development of the students. They are:

• Soft skills: This course has three modules which include training for business communication, behavioral skills and training in group discussion and personal interview.
• Skill development programs: This include training for bartending, butler training, wine tasting, flaring and juggling, cheese tasting, flower arrangement, mixology and dessert workshop.
• AHLA programs: This includes professional development courses in association with American Hotel Lodging Educational Institute- USA.

To facilitate the institutional goal of experiential learning of the students 4 clubs have been formed at the Institute. These clubs organize various activities and events to further lateral thinking an also to create a platform for putting to use the knowledge gained during classes.

The clubs are:

• Le Gourmet (Food & Beverage Club).
• Roi-de-Cuisine (Food Production Club).
• Le Garden Maison (Housekeeping Club).
• Qui Accuillez (Front Office Club).

Hostel

The College provides accommodation facilities to boys and girls. Essential furniture such as a bed, mattress, study table, chair and cupboard is provided for each individual. 

Sports infrastructure

To develop stamina, Team spirit, patience & confidence among the students, sports are stimulated. There are facilities of Volley Ball, Tennis, Soccer and Basket Ballin the campus.

• Mock Bar: There is fully equipped mock bar available for demonstrations and practical work, in the preparation and service of all kinds of beverages.

The various scholarships that are provided by Hotel & Catering Management and government are:

·         Merit cum means scholarship for minority community in India (Govt. of India Scheme) which provides Rs. 30, 000 per year

·         Paramilitary forces (CRPF, BSF, ITBP, GRPF & others) Wards get Rs. 12, 000 to Rs.  18,000 per year.

·         Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme for Wards/Widows of Ex-Servicemen Rs. 15, 000 per year for boys and Rs. 18,000 for girls per year.

·         Wards of Kashmiri migrants get Rs. 9, 000 per annum.

·         Students belong to SC/ST/OBC category and parents’ income less than 2 Lacs per annum, get up to Rs. 14, 400 per year through State Govt. Scholarship scheme.

·         Vidyadeep Scholarship Test Rs. 4, 000 – Rs. 12, 000 per year based on test conducted on spot at the time of registration.
