Biswanath College, a premier college of Assam, was established in 1960 with mission of imparting best education to the pupils so as to prepare them to prove themselves worthy of being recognized as the leading thinkers of the society. Biswanath College is located in the remote corner of Assam and at the foot of Arunachal Pradesh surrounded by Tea Gardens. This college holds a pride among academic institutions of the state particularly in the vast area of northern part of the river Brahmaputra.
Biswanath college was brought under defict system of grant-in-Aid by the Govt.of Assam in 1963 and the science section was brought under deficit system of grant-in-Aid on 1978
