Bishop Heber College (BHC), Tiruchirappalli was established in 1864. It is affiliated to Bharathidasan University and granted ‘Autonomy’ in 2004. It is accredited with Grade ‘A+’ and awarded 5 Stars by NAAC in 2001. It is an aided institution under the Government of Tamilnadu. The college has been recognised by the UGC as ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ on September 2011. Earlier it was known as Heber Memorial School and and in 1882 it became a First Grade College. It was then known as S.P.G College. It was the first college to be established in Tiruchirappalli. The College came to be known as Bishop Heber College in the late 1920's. It is a religious minority educational institution established by the Tiruchirappalli - Thanjavur Diocese of the Church of South India. It is located at the heart of Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu and it’s campus spread over 200 acres.
