Top engineering colleges (NIT, CET, MEC, GEC) in Kerala do have good placement statistics and boast good packages as well. An ECE student completing his B.Tech and if placed in a semiconductor company can fetch a package anywhere starting from 5 to 8 lakhs per annum which by industry standards is very competitive. Of course, the electronics engineers from tier-1 colleges in the country gets a far better package than what is received by engineering grads from Kerala (or for that matter any other state). Unfortunately Kerala don’t currently have any tier-1 colleges, which might be the reason why the questioner thinks that packages offered to students in Kerala are low.
