LPU holds the distinction of being the first private university to receive approval from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The agriculture program at LPU is thoughtfully designed to promote the holistic development of students. The School of Agriculture offers modern programs with a curriculum tailored to meet the needs of agricultural industries and major research and development sectors. Graduates can pursue various career paths, including roles as Biochemists, Food Scientists, Environmental Engineers, Agricultural Lawyers, Agricultural Operations Managers, Animal Geneticists, Agricultural Engineers, and Agronomy Sales Managers. The dedicated faculty at LPU ensures that students receive hands-on training through live projects conducted on the university’s agricultural research farms, along with experiential learning across different agricultural units. The program covers various disciplines, such as Agronomy, Horticulture, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Economics, and Extension. A primary focus of the program is to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in these areas, enabling them to apply their skills to achieve sustainable, high-value agricultural production. The ICAR-approved programs include B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture, M.Sc. in Agriculture (Horticulture), M.Sc. in Agriculture (Agronomy), and M.Sc. in Agriculture (Genetics and Plant Breeding). The minimum age for program enrollment is 16 years. Additionally, students may have the opportunity to participate in a four-week study tour to the USA, European countries, or other destinations determined by the university, subject to certain conditions. There is also an option to study for a semester at a partner university abroad. The program promotes evergreen agriculture and includes the RAWE (Rural Agriculture Work Experience) program to enhance interpersonal skills. Students gain valuable exposure to commercial farms, fostering endurance, confidence, and management skills. Emphasis is placed on case studies and interpersonal teaching methods to cultivate analytical thinking and reflective judgment through the exploration of complex, real-life scenarios.
