Acharya Narendra Dev College was established in 1991 by the then Prime Minister, Shri Chandra Shekhar with provisions for offering two courses, B.Com Honours and B.Sc General. It holds the credit for being the only college under the University of Delhi to offer degree courses mainly for science. Despite being a relatively young college, it was one of the top ten colleges in science according to a survey by India Today in 2010. It derives its name from Acharya Narendra Dev who is considered to be one of the greatest reformists and educationists of the modern era. Acharya Narendra Dev College encourages intellectual curiosity and critical thinking amongst its students by providing different opportunities to get involved in different research projects funded by grants from DST, DBT, and CSIR.
