Bethune College, Kolkata was established in 1849 as Bethune School. Bethune College is the first woman college in India. The College is affiliated to the University of Calcutta at the undergraduate degree course level. The college is located in a prime position, in the heart of North Kolkata. Situated opposite Hedua (now known as Azad Hind Bagh) and the prestigious Scottish Church College and is accessible by many bus and tram routes.
