About College

It was Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru who laid the foundation stone for this institute and it was first in the chain of 30 NITs in the country. It is considered at par with the IITs of the country.

It has highly dedicated faculty, staff and state of art infrastructure which thrive it to achieve constant level of excellence in terms of education and knowledge empowerment.The institute is well-known for its Research and Development, Industrial consultancy, Continuing education and Training programmes for teachers and industrial personnel

The World Bank Assistance under TEQIP has been a timely help in overall development of the institute.In November 2012,NIT Warangal entered MOUs with 12 European Higher education institutes.

Few Facts About College

• October, 1972- Change of affiliation of the College from Osmania University to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
• August 19, 1976- Change of affiliation of the College from JNTU to Kakatiya University.
• January, 1990- The College is selected for assistance under UK-INDIA Project.
• November, 1996- The AICTE recommends to the M.H.R.D and U.G.C the award of the Deemed to be University Status to REC Warangal.
• September, 2002- Institute renamed as National Institute of Technology, Warangal and offered the status of Deemed University.
• June 13, 2009- NIT, Warangal has been selected as a “Leading Technology Adopter of the year 2009” (It is an award for excellence in Technology Adopter in the Education Sector)

 It is housed in an area of 4000 Sq. meters.

 It has around 1,57,596 books, technical pamphlets, standards, video cassettes etc.

 It receives 215 Journals (125-Indian, 90-Foreign) and 2000 online journals. It also has virtual library.

There are 2 TVs, 2 VCRs and 350 CDs/Video cassettes on different subjects. It has 4 book bank categories. E.g. Book – bank for ST Students, Book – bank for SC students, Book-bank for needy students etc.
